Cheyenne – The Wyoming Department of Corrections will be closing the Aquaculture program located at the Wyoming Women’s Center in Lusk, Wyoming by the end of 2024. The program received its first fish when it opened in 2007. Since opening, the program has raised a number of species of fish. Most recently the program grew Tilapia and catfish for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Over the past several years consistent vacancies in the program have made staffing the program as well as marketing the product difficult. The Department will expand other vocational and employment opportunities to ensure inmates who may be effected are able to prepare for their release.
