Posted

This award is granted in recognition of groups or individuals that have demonstrated evidence of exceptional service to teachers, schools and children.

Lusk Elementary/Middle School (LEMS) was nominated by the Niobrara County Education Association. Rachel Gibson was part of the team that nominated the group.

“The Niobrara County Education Association (NCEA) recommended the Lusk Community for Kids group for the 2024 WEA Friend of Education Award,” Gibson said. “As the president of the local education association, I have been impressed and encouraged by their desire to support the learning of students and enhance the communication between school, parents and community. They have developed more opportunities to involve our community and parents in activities at school.”

Gibson praised the group for working very closely with NCEA to build a stronger positive culture of excellence within the Lusk community.

Amanda Martinez, the chairwoman of LEMS Community for Kids, accepted the award on behalf of the group.

“I was honored to be a part of the LEMS Community 4 Kids and to have had the opportunity to receive this award on the group’s behalf,” Martinez said. “Community for Kids is a group of amazing, creative and compassionate individuals who strive to support education, our students and our staff.”
