On March 20, in the early morning hours, an automobile was stolen in Lusk. Additionally, there were multiple other reported involving items being removed from other vehicles around town.
Niobrara County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Lusk Police Department with locating the stolen vehicle, which was found 40 miles north of Lusk.
The Lusk Police Department is currently investigating the theft of the vehicle and the theft of items from other cars. According to Lusk Police Chief Jacob Gordon, the thefts from vehicles and the stolen car could be related. However, no solid connection has not been confirmed yet.
Chief Gordon told the Herald that it is important that all vehicles be secured, and keys kept within the owner’s home. Such measures could prevent future thefts.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity. The matter is still under investigation. Authorities are following up on several leads.
