Gordon Potter, 80, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 in Rapid City, SD, in the presence of his loving wife of 53 years, Faye.

Stanley Gordon Potter was born to Harry and Josephine (Martin) Potter in Phoenix, Arizona on October 4, 1943. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1962. Gordon served in the United States Army from 1964-1970.

Gordon married the love of his life, Faye Ruth Potter (David), on July 11, 1970 in Edgemont, SD. Together the two would raise two children, Eric and Tina.

Gordon worked in Edgemont as a millworker at the uranium mill until the mill closed. The family then moved to Ely, NV. They lived there for two years before deciding they missed their life in South Dakota and returned to the Black Hills. Gordon was then hired by Wal Mart until his retirement in 1997.

Gordon was an avid poker player who passed that passion down to his kids and grandkids. Gordon was a dire hard Bronco fan. He enjoyed salvaging, gardening, yard sales, making wishing wells and tinkering .

In 2013, Gordon suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury, causing him to be a man of few words.

Gordon leaves behind his wife, Faye Potter; 2 children, Eric Potter (Rae Jean) of Spearfish, SD and Tina (Lance) Hunt of Green River, WY; granddaughters Kayla (Andrew) Trierweiler of St. Paul, MN and Shyana (Blake) Waite of Green River, WY; step-granddaughter Alyssa (Steven) Hampton; one great granddaughter, Morghen, on the way; step-great grandchildren, Anessa, Blake, Logan, and Kimber Hampton, Kaylee Dicken, Hunter Parrot, Vivienne Riesland, Michael Coy, and one great granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, George West, sister-in-laws, Merry Potter, Melody Newell and Beth Mullendore along with many nieces, nephews and their families.

Gordon is preceded in death by his father, Rhuel Potter; mother, Josephine Spencer; step-father, Bill Spencer; grandson, Bryce Hunt; brothers, Larry (Nancy), Lynn, Clifford (Bonnie), and David; sisters Evelyn West and Bertha Mages

A Celebration of life is scheduled on May 25, 2024 at the family residence.
