PINE BLUFFS – The Niobrara County High School tracksters headed to Pine Bluffs on a brisk Friday morning to take part in the Kendra Roeder Invite.

The girls’ team were the runners-up, scoring an impressive 119 points. The boys’ team scored 71 to place fourth.

Future Wyoming Cowgirl Melody ZumBrunnen led the way with four gold medals in the 100-, 200- and 400-meters and long jump. She ran 13.21 seconds in the 100-meters, 27.40 seconds in the 200-meters and 1 minute, 5.82 seconds in the 400-meters.

Melody ZumBrunnen also long jumped a mark of 16 feet, 3 inches.

Sister Gracie ZumBrunnen had two golds and two silvers on the day. She won the 800-meters in 2:46 and triple jumped to gold, going just shy of 33 feet. 

Gracie ZumBrunnen also high jumped well, clearing 4-10 to place second and ran 13.73 seconds in the 100-meters for silver.

Freshman Marleigh Smith had a pair of silvers in the 100-hurdles and high jump. She ran a personal best of 18.30 seconds in the hurdles and cleared 4-10 in the high jump to tie with Gracie ZumBrunnen.

Thrower Phoebe Allbright won gold in the shot put, throwing 33-02 ½. She went on to place fourth in the discus with a toss of 96-01.

Fellow thrower Kyra Willey placed fifth in the discus with a personal best toss of 87-11.

Abby Glavan rounded out the scoring for the girls with a pair of fourth place finishes in the 400-meters and long jump. She ran 1:11.59 in the 400-meters and long jumped just over 13 feet.

On the boys’ side, Cory Bruegger and Nathan Miller led the way with a pair of gold medals apiece.

Bruegger won both the long and triple jumps with prequalifying marks. 

Bruegger won the long jump with a leap of 19-11 and achieved a personal best in the triple jump, going 43-04.

Miller won the high jump, clearing 6-02 and won the 100-meters at 12.09 seconds.

Hurdler Isaac Assman brought home silver in the 110-hurdles in 16.77 seconds and also placed seventh in the high jump, clearing 5-00.

Thrower Raynce Brott placed in both throwing events. He was fifth in the discus, with a prequalifying throw of 128-06, and sixth in the shot put, throwing 39-03.

David West cleared 11-06 in the pole vault to place fourth.

Charlie Gaukel ran a personal best in the 800-meters at 2:37 to place fourth in that event and earned eighth place in the high jump.

Freshman Brady Swisher scored points in the 400-meters and long jump. He ran a personal best of 1:02.24 in the 400-meters and long jumped 16-02.

The Tigers host the Dennis Zowada Invite on Saturday at Niobrara County High School.

• 200-meters: Luker in 15th place at 27.94 seconds.

• 400-meters: Swisher in eighth place at 1:02.24.

• 800-meters: Gaukel in fourth place at 2:37.24.

• 110-hurdles: Assman in second place at 16.77 seconds.

• High jump: Miller in first place at 6-02, Assman in seventh at 5-00 and Gaukel in eighth at 5-00.

• Pole vault: West in fourth place at 11-06 and Gaukel in 10th at 8-06.

• Long jump: Bruegger in first place at 19-11, Swisher in seventh at 16-02 and Luker in ninth at 15-03.

• Triple jump: Bruegger in first place at 43-04.

• Shot put: Brott in sixth place at 39-03 and Cian Kimes in 16th at 29-02 ½.

• Discus: Brott in fifth place at 128-06 and Kimes in 14th at 78-07.

• 100-meters: Melody ZumBrunnen in first place at 13.21 seconds and Gracie ZumBrunnen in second at 13.73.

• 200-meters: Melody ZumBrunnen in first place at 27.40 seconds.

• 400-meters: Melody ZumBrunnen in first place at 1:05.82 and Glavan in fourth at 1:11.59.

• 800-meters: Gracie ZumBrunnen in first place at 2:46.60.

• 100-hurdles: Smith in second place at 18.30 seconds.

• High jump: Gracie ZumBrunnen and Smith tied for second place at 4-10.

• Long jump: Melody ZumBrunnen in first place at 16-03 and Glavan in fourth at 13-03 ¾.

• Triple jump: Gracie ZumBrunnen in first place at 32-10.

• Shot put: Allbright in first place at 33-02 ½, Kyra Willey in 10th place at 27-08, Sarah Krein in 16th at 24-01, Royal Kremers in 19th at 22-06 and Heidi DesEnfants in 22nd at 19-11.

• Discus: Allbright in fourth place at 96-01, Willey in fifth at 87-11, Krein in 13th at 76-07, Kremers in 17th at 67-09 and DesEnfants in 21st at 51-03.

The Dennis Zowada Invite is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Niobrara County competes at the Torrington Wiseman Invite on Friday, May 3.
