LOVELL – Ruth Ward Howe, 67, died of cancer in Lovell on Jan. 5, 2023.

She was born Jan. 14, 1955, in Lusk, the daughter of Grant and Ella Marie Ward. She spent her childhood in Lance Creek, and attended the Cow Creek school, graduating from Niobrara County High School in 1973.

She Married Thomas Middleton in Manville, Aug. 25, 1973. Two children were born to this union. Thomas passed in 1978, then she married Bryce Walker on Nov. 4, 1978. She was baptized into the LDS Church in 1979. Two children were born to this union. Ruth married Glen Howe in the Idaho Falls Temple on Jan. 5, 1996.

She is survived by her spouse, Glen; three aunts, Carrie Jean Prell of Douglas, Nora Johnson of Williston, North Dakota, and May Smith of Manville; one uncle, Fred Ward of Riverton;  two sons, Robert Middleton (Wilbert) of Kent, Washington and Steven Walker (Sabrina) of Lovell, two daughters, Tamara Twitchell (Samuel) and Ella Bazemore of Lovell; two brothers, Washington Scott Ward of Whitehall, New York and George Grant Ward of Lovell; two sisters, Lydia Ione Lefforge of Evansville, and Earlene Ester Ward of Colorado Springs, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Marie Ward; first husband, Thomas Middleton, and granddaughter Hope Walker.

Funeral services were held Jan. 10, 2023, in The LDS Church in Lovell with Bishop Ken Grant conducting. Burial was in the Lovell Cemetery.
