CASPER – Roger Dale Lund, 62 passed away Oct. 31, 2022 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Center in Casper. He was born Sept. 2, 1960 to Mary Jo Vineyard and Charles V. Sommers. After his parents divorced, Mary Jo married Larry Lund who proudly adopted Roger and his brothers Ronald (Ronnie) and Charles (Chuck). With the adoption of Larree Ann Lund (Kraft) this completed the Lund family.
Roger graduated from Niobrara County High School, Class of 1978. Roger received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Black Hills State University in Communications and a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in Landscape Horticulture, where he received the top Senior Award for Landscape Horticulture.
Roger married Jenny Small, and to this union were born two sons, Zachary and Jacob Lund while living in Casper. His boys were his pride and joy. He settled his family in Reno, Nevada working different jobs at which time he and Jenny divorced.
Roger was very proud to be a part of the ELKS Lodge in Casper and Reno NV where he served for many years. Roger loved the Lord and shared his passion within the ELKS community, where he held several positions and received many awards which included the appointment of Exalted Ruler. Roger loved to golf and never missed calling for holidays or birthdays. He was an avid card player with one of his favorite games being Contract Rummy. There was never a dull moment at the card table with Roger in the game. He had a beautiful voice, loved to sing and shared it on special occasions.
Roger is survived by his sons Zachary and Jacob Lund. Mother Mary Jo Lund, sisters: Larree Ann Kraft (Randy), Laurie Sommers (Jim) Allshouse, and Stephanie Sommers, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his fathers-, Charles V. Sommers and Larry Lund, brothers, Ronald Lund and Charles W. Sommers.
There will be no funeral at this time. Memorials may be sent to the Niobrara County Senior Center.
