NIOBRARA COUNTY, WYOMING

PRIMARY ELECTION – AUGUST 18, 2020

MAY 14 - 29, 2020 – CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD FOR PRIMARY ELECTION
Federal and State candidates file applications with the Secretary of State.  County and Precinct Committee candidates file applications with the County Clerk.

W.S. 22-4-101(b) Committeemen and women shall be electors registered in the party and resident in the precinct.

Names of candidates will be rotated on the official ballots and will not always appear in the order indicated on the sample ballots.

POLLS ARE OPEN FROM 7:00 A.M. TO 7:00 P.M. ON THE DAY OF ELECTION

If a voter requires assistance to vote at the polls by reason of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write, he may be given assistance by a person of his choice.  If there are any additional questions regarding the accessibility of a polling place or use of ADA equipment to mark your ballot, please contact the County Clerk.

VOTER REGISTRATION
Voter Registration closes for Primary Election………………………………………………………… August 3, 2020
(You may register to vote at the Courthouse during the 14-day prior period prior to the election, provided you cast your absentee ballot immediately after registering to vote.)

PRIMARY ELECTION DAY- Voters may register and vote at their polling places.  A photo ID is required.

ABSENTEE VOTING- Absentee ballots will be available from July 2 - Aug 17, 2020.  A qualified elector may apply for an absentee ballot at any time by applying either in person, in writing, or by phone, provided they are registered to vote.   If a qualified elector is unable to be at the polls, they may vote absentee.   If the ballot is not to be picked up by the elector, the address to which the absentee ballot is to be mailed, or the name of the individual the elector designates in writing to deliver the ballot to the elector is required.  Ballots must be returned to the clerk’s office by 7:00 p.m. on August 18, 2020, to be counted.  Absentee ballots will not be available on Election Day.  

CAMPAIGN REPORTING REQUIREMENTS- Each Candidate and Candidate’s Committee, except precinct committee people, whether successful or not, shall file a fully itemized Statement of Contributions and Expenditures Report seven (7) days before the Primary Election- August 11, 2020 and seven (7) days before the General Election- October 27, 2020 for the General Election.  

The candidate/committee shall file any amendments to a filed report within ten (10) days after a primary, general or special election. WS 22-25-106(b)(i);(a)(i).    

A person found guilty of violating Wyoming campaign finance statutes is subject to criminal charges. Failure to file a required report could result in a two hundred dollar ($200.00) civil penalty. WS 22-25-108(f).
