LUSK – As the Niobrara County High School volleyball team shed tears knowing that senior Courtney Rowley’s season is over, classmate Bryn Bruch made her season debut. While the roster shuffling and emotional Senior Night was noticeable, the visitors took advantage.

The Pine Bluffs Lady Hornets 7-4 lead in the first set became 16-5 on their way to the 25-11 win. NCHS kept the second set closer early but a 9-2 run by Pine Bluffs was enough for another 25-11 score.

As the Lady Tigers began to understand their new reality, they hung with the visitors in the third set. The teams were tied early and went back and forth before Pine Bluffs pulled away 25-15 for the match win.

The JV lost to the visitors in two sets 25-12 and 25-16. Phoebe Allbright was 12 for 12 serving while Larkin Williams and Evelyn DesEnfants combined for 11-for-11 from the service line. Jaden Stauffer and E. DesEnfants each had three kills. The C squad fell to the Lady Hornets 25-12 and 25-14. Serenity Reynolds and Hattie Nelson each went 5/5 from the service line and Elyse Richards had three kills.

This week the Lady Tigers host Sioux County, Neb. on Thursday with JV starting at 5 p.m. On Saturday Southeast visits Tiger Gym with JV starting at 1 p.m.
