LUSK – Niobrara county high shool FCCLA students scrubbed their way to nationals by holding a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, June 11 in the Lusk State Bank parking lot.
Students and some siblings soaped up and got dirty to help fund their trip to the FCCLA national convention in San Diego. This year, seven of the eleven members of the local chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America qualified by placing either first or second in their chosen even at the state competition in April.
Students did receive some financial support from the district but are also raising funds to help defray the costs. They hosted a bake sale at the same time as the carwash. They are also currently selling raffle tickets for ZumBrunnen Angus beef, leather goods from Range Leather out of Laramie and a hand crafted steak flipper. Tickets can be purchased from any member. The drawing will be held after Alumni Weekend.
