LUSK – The Lusk Elks building as a buzz of activity September 8, 9 and 10 as the Lusk DOES prepared for and hosted the annual State Meeting for the Wyoming DOES organization. In addition to hosting this large event, they also welcomed the Supreme President Kelly Wilson to participate in the activities.

Friday evening kicked off the formal events with their opening ceremony. Involving DOES from Lusk as well as across the state, this event was open to the public and was attended by many of the Elks, spouses of DOES and members of the public. Music was provided by Ross Diercks. Loren Heth provided the formal welcome from Elks Lodge No. 1797. Both Sheridan No. 127 and Riverton No. 48 provided elements of the program as well.

The state meeting was organized by a committee consisting of Julie Tolman, Barbara Crofutt, Ardis Meier, Sheila Tangney and Jan Green.

The theme of this year’s event was “DOES Salute America”. The state meeting is held to conduct business of state and regional concern. State officers are elected and workshops on rituals and topics of concern are conducted as well. Luncheons and dinners are hosted and used to celebrate the achievements of local droves as well as the organization at the state level.
