On Friday, July 19, at approximately 5:30 p.m. a local 14-year old boy, was killed after being struck by a train while riding his bicycle on the east side of Lusk. While authorities would not release the identity of the boy, a candlelight vigil was held on July 20 by friends and family for Bradley Wishard.
According to Niobrara County Under Sheriff Cary Gill, conductors of the train witnessed the teen riding his bicycle attempting to cross the tracks prior to the impact.
Gill said that the accident is still currently under investigation.
