Lady Tiger eighth grade team places third at SEWAC

The Lusk Middle School Lady Tiger 8th grade volleyball team had a busy week with matches on the road. Traveling to Burns on Thursday night for conference matches with Burns and Pine Bluffs was the first task at hand for the Lady Tigers. Squaring off against the undefeated Pine Bluffs Hornets was first for the Tiger team. The Lusk team came out strong, but lost the first game by a close score of 20-25. In the next game the Tigers struggled with missed serves and lost by a score of 11-25. High point server was Emma Ceaglske with 5 points. Emma and Miranda Gilkey were captains for this match. Next up for the Tigers was the Burns Broncs. The Tiger team came out firing in the first game winning a close one by a score of 25-23. In the next set the Lady Tigers let down and struggled with inaccurate passing, losing to the Burns team by a score of 6-25. The Lady Tigers gathered strength and pulled together to win the final game and the match by a score of 25-22.

Next up for the Lady Tiger 8th grade team was the season ending SEWAC tournament in Pine Bluffs. The Tigers entered the bracket with a 3-3 conference record and seeded 2nd overall. In the semi-final match the Lady Tigers squared off against the Lingle Ft. Laramie Doggers, who the Tigers had defeated previously in the season. Once again the Tiger team came out strong winning the first game by a close score of 25-22. In the next game the Tigers gave up some crucial points and lost in a close game by a score of 20-25. In the final game of the match the Doggers proved to be too much for the Tiger team, with the Tigers losing by a score of 16-25. Trisha Hales was high point server for this match serving 14. Reygan Molzahn and Miranda Gilkey were captains for the match. Losing this match moved the Lady Tigers into a 3rd/4th place match against the Southeast Cyclones. Once again the Lady Tigers came out strong winning the first match by a score of 25-18. In the second game of the match the Tigers were plagued by inconsistent serving and passing causing them to lose by a score of 14-25. Finally in the last game the Lady Tigers played a solid game winning by a score of 25-22 and capturing 3rd place honors. Reygan Molzahn scored 10 points and Emma Ceaglske scored 8 points to lead the scoring for the Tigers. Captains of this match were Makayla Waldock and Meghan Mosley. The Lady Tigers would like to thank their families and fans for all their support this past season.
