Local youth thanks American soldiers

It started out as a 4-H presentation and ended by making 60 National Guard soldiers’ trip home a little nicer. Last April, Taylor Gaukel (pictured center of two soldiers) decided that she wanted to do something for our American soldiers. She did a Mother’s Day cookie sale and with the help of her friends sold, made, decorated and delivered over 60 dozen cookies. She raised enough money to make 60 “thank you” bags. The bags included water, snacks, travelling games, notebooks, 4-H pencils and a thank you note. On July 25, Taylor handed the bags out to a group of soldiers, that were headed home to Sioux City Iowa.
