NIOBRARA COUNTY - State and local agencies converged on US Highway18/20 at Post 23 on Thursday, Aug. 1, when one vehicle’s attempt to pass another resulted in a serious collision.
According to Sgt. Stephen Townsend of the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. The crash involved a 2008 Ford Escape and a 2013 Kia Optima. Occupants of the Escape included a female driver from Colorado and a female passenger. Three passengers were in the Kia with a male resident of New York behind the wheel. The collision took place when the Escape attempted to pass another vehicle and failed to move back over into its proper lane.
“The Escape hit the Kia almost head-on,” Townsend told the Herald.
