LUSK - The 10th Annual MS Walk will get underway on Saturday, April 20 at the Niobrara Senior Center. Registration begins at 8:00. There is no registration fee but walkers are encouraged to donate as much as they can when they show up to walk. Each walker will receive a t-shirt. Water and refreshments are also provided. All of the money raised in Niobrara County goes exclusively toward research. This is our 10th year of walking in Niobrara County and our average earnings have been around $3000.00 per year. Our goal this year is to raise $5000.00 and in order to do that we need as much participation as possible.
There will be two walking routes to choose from. The longer route is about 43 blocks long and the shorter route covers 16 blocks. The routes are not finalized yet but maps will be provided and walkers can always just follow the arrows on the street.
There will be opportunities to “purchase” feet at many local business. The Lusk community has been very supportive through the years. Because of this support we are one step closer to finding a cure. If you are unable to attend the walk but would like to contribute, please forward your donation to MS Benefit, PO Box 612, Lusk WY 82225. If you have any questions, please call Randi Ross at 334-0107 or 216-0073.
About 1100 people in Wyoming have been diagnosed with MS. The incident rate here is one of the largest in the United States with one in four hundred people being diagnosed. It is a lot more prevalent in this area than it is around the United States. In fact, it is more prevalent throughout the entire Rocky Mountain region.
