LUSK - The search for a new superintendent for Niobrara County School District #1 (NCSD) came to a close on Monday, March 25, when the Board of Education announced that Jonathan E. Braack had been selected to replace retiring Superintendent Richard Luchsinger.

Braack was one of three candidates who were interviewed by the board during executive sessions that took place on Monday, March18, Tuesday, March19, and Thursday, March 22, in the boardroom at the Niobrara County School District #1 office. Lusk residents, parents, and district patrons also received an opportunity to ask each candidate questions during a series of community forums held at Lusk Elementary Middle School in the library. In an interview with the Herald, Braack stated that he and his family had a strong sense of belonging to the school district even before the conclusion of the selection process. Indeed, during a visit to Lusk last week, the Braacks became firmly convinced that Jonathan’s selection was little more than a foregone conclusion. A phone call from the board on Sunday, March 24, says Braack, merely validated his family’s intuitive sense.

“Even before the board called me, my wife and I knew after our visit last week that Lusk was where we needed to be,” Braack told the Herald. “When we got the call on Sunday, we were grateful and our feelings were confirmed.”
