The third ranked Lusk boys basketball squad ran their record to 18-2 after a hard fought win in Pine Bluffs last Saturday. The win gives NCHS a perfect 8-0 conference record and the #1SE seed for the 2A East Regional in Dayton next weekend.
NCHS took the lead early and Craig Christianson’s three pointer gave Lusk a 14-8 lead as the first quarter wound down. The Hornets made a 9-6 run and the Tiger lead was just three. The game resembled the one in Lusk as both teams were going full speed against each other. Neither could get a sizeable lead and the score was locked at 31 at halftime.
PB forced seven turnovers and held the Tigers to just six points in taking the 40-37 lead. With four players in foul trouble the Tigers depth would be tested in the final quarter. Kevin Christianson put the Tigers ahead for good with his short jumper at 1:35 and Denton Shaw and Hunter Dockery combined to hit 5-6 free throws down the stretch for the 56-52 win.
