NCHS had just one varsity game last week and they closed their 2A Southeast Region schedule with a road win at Pine Bluffs last Saturday. The Lady Hornets took the lead first but after Kaylee Seeds hit a layup and the free throw, Lusk went up 7-5 and never looked back. Sami Starkey hit her first of three three pointers and Hailey Bruegger sank her first of two as NCHS took command with a 16-8 first quarter lead. Bruegger’s second came just minutes into the second quarter, and despite foul trouble creeping up, the Lady Tigers took great care of the ball and tempo. The halftime lead was 23-15 in Lusk’s favor, not quite a comfortable advantage.
