FCCLA continues with community services

Posted: Thursday, Jan 31st, 2013

Hats and scarves made by the Wyoming Women’s Center and donated to the Central Wyoming Rescue Mission are shown off by FCCLA members (L to R) Megan Mason, Dakota Swartwood, Aaron Christianson, Sebastian Ochs, Clayton Potter, Ashley Burton, Deneese Stone, Willow Waldock and Shandrea Kant.

The NCHS Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) had a full agenda for their Season of Giving last month. Working with several groups, multiple people and organizations benefitted from four different FCCLA community service projects.

Done as a competition between each NCHS class and the staff, the response to the coordinated efforts of Santa’s Helpers and NCHS for a local food drive was tremendous. Boxes provided, overflowed with donations as the groups worked to win a pizza and root beer float party for having the most contributions. The junior class barely beat out the seniors with seven more cans of food brought in.

The FCCLA chapter was very pleased to also be able to make a $150 donation to Santa’s Helpers with proceeds from the Gobbler of the Day event and an individual $50 gift.
