Lady Tigers Hang on to Beat Saratoga

Mother Nature prevented Friday’s game against Lingle-Ft Laramie from happening, but the Lady Tigers braved the weather and traveled to Saratoga on Saturday.

NCHS jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it, despite trying very hard in the second half. The score was 12-3 after one period and at the half it was 24-11. The Lady Panthers were determined to make it a competitive game and caught up behind four of ten shooting from behind the arc in the second half.

Lusk’s lead was 33-18 at one point before the home team closed the quarter on a 12-4 run. Saratoga continued to climb back but foul trouble and the clock were also against the Lady Panthers as NCHS held on for the 48-44 win. The Lady Tigers improved to 4-1 in the conference and 9-4 overall.

The JV beat Saratoga by a 29-27 score as Abbey Larson led with 12 points and Jessica Bruegger added 8. KaciJo Skrukrud grabbed five rebounds and Amy Bergstrom had four steals.

The C squad played two quarters at Saratoga and won 18-9. Amber Jensen led with eight points while Lexi Blackburn and Rishelle Lizasuain each scored three points.

The freshman-sophomore tournament was in Guernsey this year and Monday night they beat the Lady Vikings 30-23. Larson scored eight points and Megan Mason added seven while Rachel Lashmett grabbed six rebounds. They lost to Wheatland by a 29-28 score as Blackburn led with nine points and Bailyn Clark added seven.

On Friday the (Wyopreps.com) second-ranked 1A Lady Doggers will come to Lusk for two quarters of JV at 4:45 p.m. and varsity at 5:30 On Saturday Bayard, (Neb.) visits Tiger Gym for two JV quarters at 1:45 and varsity at 2:30. All games will be at NCHS.
