Lusk Pony Express celebrate historic rides

From April 1860 to October 1861, the Pony Express ran the mail throughout the Rocky Mountains, the Great Plains, and the High Sierra. Yet, the advent of the telegraph rendered this equestrian mail service obsolete within a mere two days. Now, in an era populated with hi-tech communication mediums like cell phones and the Internet, one might view a horseback delivery system as not only antiquated, but downright anachronistic. However, such is not the case in Lusk, where volunteers gather on a annual basis to ride in a modern facsimile of the Pony Express.
