LUSK - Feasts and fresh roses are among life’s most welcome sights.
Bloomers combined the two in Caring Rose Week this week, an aid program that is a spin-off of National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week.
For $10 and two cans of food, each customer coming to Bloomers will receive a dozen roses while supplies last. The roses are available starting Tuesday, Nov. 13. Carrie Bannan said the community has been very generous and gone well above and beyond bringing in two cans and $10. In 2010, Bloomers collected more than 500 cans.
Bloomers is located at 224 South Main Street and can be contacted at 334-4104.
National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week runs Nov. 10 through 18, sponsored by the National Coalition for the Homeless and National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness. Learn more about the movement at www.nationalhomeless.org.
