The Lusk High School Golf Team travelled to Sundance for their first tournament of the fall. For the boys Denton Shaw fired an 80 which put him in a playoff for first place with Dallas Millin from Wright. Denton ended up losing in the two hole playoff. Tyler Harris also played and shot well for his first competitive high school tournament coming in with a score of 128.
The girls team got off to a good start with a team score of 296 which earned them the team championship . Sundance finished second with a team score of 326. Kaci Jo Skrukrud fired a 96 to place second in the girls individual scores. Amy Bergstrom was close behind firing a 98 to place third, Abbey Larson placed fourth with a round of 102 and Caysea Hart shot a 117 to earn the 7th place medal.
The next day the team played in the Moorcroft Invitational at Keyhole Country Club.
For the boys Denton Shaw started out a little slow firing a 40 on the front side but then he followed that up with his nine hole low in high school golf shooting 33 on the back nine to finish with a score of 73 to win the individual championship by six strokes.
The girl’s team improved on their team score at Sundance with a score of 285 to win the team championship . Big Horn finished second with a team score of 364. Kaci Jo Skrukrud led the way playing very consistently shooting a 43 on the front nine and following that with a 44 on the back side for a round of 87. These scores were career lows for Kaci Jo and were good enough to earn her the girls individual championship. Abbey Larson finished second with a round of 97. Amy Bergstrom shot 101 to earn the fourth place medal.
Both teams played well for the first weekend of the fall. The next tournament for the team will be at Elkhorn Country Club where they will play in the Sundance/Hulett Invitational on Sept. 3.
