Jordan Ann Thurston-Miller the Gillette College cowgirl from Lance Creek , Wyo. is the 2013 College National Finals World Champion Goat Tyer. Thurston-Miller daughter of John and Tiffany Thurston and granddaughter of Pat and Bev Miller all from Lance Creek, Wyo., was fourth in the first go-round with a 6.3,third in the 2nd go-round with a 6.2, 1st in the 3rd go-round with a 6.2, and first in the short-go with a 6.1. For a total combined time of 24.8 seconds on four head. The CNFR was held in Casper, Wyo., at the Casper Events Center June 9-15, 2013.

“It’s a great way to end college rodeo and it’s sad it’s over,” said Thurston-Miller, who has won the national championship twice and also finished as the reserve national champion in her four-year career at Gillette College.

“I kept telling myself, ‘be smooth, be smooth. That’s all you have to do.’ It worked out that way.”

It was the first time in Gillette College rodeo history that all four of the women scored points and they were led by one of the best.

“I think she goes down as probably the best college goat tier ever,” Pronghorn coach Will LaDuke said. “This is the hardest rodeo in the world to win. She’s won it twice and won second once."

“People will remember her name for an awful long time.”

Thurston-Miller never was one to play it safe. She threw caution to the wind on her final college run and the Wyoming crowd responded, saying well done to one of its own.
