For the second week in a row, the Tiger track & Field team gathered the majority of its team points in the field events competing in the Wheatland Invitational last Saturday. Led by the Christianson brothers Craig and Kevin, the Tiger’s got off to a great start by placing first in the Pole Vault and High Jump. Craig vaulted a season’s best 11’ for his gold medal and Kevin had another solid day in the High Jump with a leap of 6’1”. According to vaulting coach Jim Lyons, “Craig had an awfully good day. He is using a different pole this year and it has taken him a while to get used to it. But he had some really good attempts and by state track I’m sure he will be in the mix to place well at the state meet.” Sophomore Martin Fitzwater was the other gold medal winner for the Tigers winning the Shot Put with a personal best effort which also pre-qualified him for the state meet with a toss of 44’ 8 3/4”. “I was extremely pleased with Martin’s effort on Saturday and for him to pre-qualify this early in the season is very encouraging”, commented throwing coach Ron Nelson.
