NCHS moved to 11-4 on the season with a pair of wins that featured a Friday nail-biter against Lingle-Ft. Laramie and Saturday 18-point win over Bayard, Neb.
Kiffani Skrukrud opened the game with a three pointer but otherwise the first half the shooting was not very good for either team. After the first quarter the score was 9-6 in favor of Lusk yet the teams had combined for 14 personal fouls. Class 1A’s second ranked Lady Doggers were unbeaten coming into the game and never did let NCHS get too far ahead. Hailey Bruegger’s pair of free throws put Lusk up 15-10 but the visitors closed the half with a 6-2 run.
LFL took the 24-23 lead late in the third period as the pace had picked up and both teams were warming up the hoop. After three the score was knotted at 27 and the large crowd would be treated to an exciting fourth quarter.
