The Southeast Cyclones traveled to Lusk last Tuesday night.
The 7th grade Lusk Tigers were looking to redeem themselves after a dismal night against Douglas last Thursday. They took on conference rival Southeast and prevailed 34-24.
An 11-2 run in the third quarter gave Lusk control of the game and its first victory of the year. High Scorers were, Denton Shaw, 17 points and Brady Thurston 9 points.
On the 8th Grade side, the Tigers fell to Southeast 38-31 after a hard fought game. The Tigers got down early to a hot shooting Cyclone squad who hit 6 three-pointers in the first half. Southeast led 28-14 at half time. But the Tigers fought back with some full court pressure to cut the lead to 7 late in the game before falling. Leading the scorers for the Tigers was Matthew VandeBossche with 13, followed by Bryce Sturman with 6, Dakota Clark with 5, Drew Hester with 3, and Garrett Smith and Dax Dockery with 2 a piece. As a team, the Tigers shoot 75 percent from the free throw line. All the boys played extremely well, especially in the second half, and worked hard on both ends of the court.
On Thursday, the Sioux County Warriors were in Lusk.
The 7th grade Lusk Tigers took on the Harrison Warriors and started the game on a 12-0 run. It was the best offensive performance by the Tigers this year as this team continues to show improvement. Leading scorers for the Tigers were, Denton Shaw 16 points, and Derick VandeBossche with 12 points. With the victory the 7th grade Tigers improved their record to 2-1.
The 8th Graders had a battle with the Warriors. It was a tight throughout the game. Lusk held the edge at halftime 11-8 before falling behind late in the 4th quarter. Dakota Clark hit a short jumper with less than a minute to go in the game to put the Tigers up for good 17-16. Scoring for the Tigers were Matthew VandeBossche with 8, Dakota Clark with 4, Bryce Sturman with 3 and Garrett Smith with 2.
The Tigers next game will be against Lingle Feb. 2, at the LEMS gymnasium. Please come out and support your Lusk Tigers.
