The NCHS wrestlers had a successful weekend at the Lingle Invitational, finishing third behind Wright and Hulett. The Panthers won the tournament with 195 points while Hulett finished with 175 and Lusk accumulated 155.5 points. Kimball, Neb. (150) and the host Doggers (141.5) rounded out the top five.
Lance Hladky won his third tournament of the new year with a 16-2 tech fall over Hulett’s Garrett Haberman at 152 pounds.
Four Tigers finished in third place led by Travis Gaukel over Southeast’s Zane Mackey at 112 pounds. Colton Miller won a 4-2 decision over Dakota Douglas from Bayard, Neb, at 140 pounds, Harley Cushman at 160 pounds defeated Bob Olsen of Banner County, Neb., and Ace Thurston won his match over Andrew Macelli of Casper Natrona’s JV team at 189 pounds.
Three NCHS wrestlers finished in sixth place, Zack Manasco dropped his 135 pound match to Jose Varella from Banner County, Neb., John Boussu lost to Hanna’s Raymond Hohn at 171 and Jacob Wasserburger lost his 215 pound match to Gering’s Tom Jacobs.
On Jan 28 the Tigers will square off against Glenrock in a dual set to start at 6 p.m. It will be senior night at Tiger Gym for Cushman and Gaukel, each making their final appearances on the home mat. Friday and Saturday the Tigers will wrestle in the Belle Fourche (S.D.), Invitational.
