Dorothy Gunn Dupes who grew up in the Hat Creek area passed away at the Bear Mountain Hospice in Morrison, Colo., on Oct. 29, 2009.
She was born in Harrison, Neb., on June 30, 1921, and married James Dupes in 1944. Jim preceded her in death in April of 2008. A brother, Hugh Gunn, of Sheridan, Wyo., and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.
Dorothy taught school at Lance Creek during World War II, after graduating from Lusk High School in 1939. She then taught four years at Frannie, Wyoming, and after they were transferred to Billings, Montana, she received a degree in nursing and taught for several years at Montana State University School of Nursing.
After retiring, she and Jim lived in Tucson, Ariz. and Douglas and Casper, Wyo. After Jim’s death, she moved to Atria Inn assisted living facility in Lakewood, Colo.
