Helen Leone Mathewson Cannon
Helen (Mathewson) Cannon was born at her parents home East of Glendo, Wyo. on Dec. 18, 1931 moving to Lusk in 1936 where she grew up and attended all 12 years of school in Lusk graduating with the class of 1950.

Helen married Joseph Cannon on Feb. 11, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Lusk. In their first few years of marriage they lived in several different places including Glenrock, Wyo. In 1955 they moved to Abilene, Texas where they have resided since and where she passed away at home surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 13 in Abilene, Texas.

Helen worked for Batjer Claim Service for 15 years and retired from the Texas Railroad Commission after 23 years of service. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always put others needs before her own. She also was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Abilene.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Mabel Mathewson and her older brother Frieburn Mathewson. She is survived by her husband Joseph Cannon of Abilene; daughter, Cindy Sutton and husband Rick of Abilene; two granddaughters, Kristin Sutton of Plano, Texas and Meredith Sutton of Abilene; two sisters, Beulah Watson and brother-in-law Palmer Watson of San Pablo, Calif. and Clea Sharp of Auburn, Calif.; three nieces, one nephew, three grand nieces, one grand nephew, other extended family members and many friends.
