Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Katie Glendy was presented an “Appreciation Quilt” that was made by the Niobrara Quilters, while aboard the US Ronald Reagan during Parents Day. Approximately 3,000 parents were greeted aboard and transported 75 miles out on the ocean. Katie is currently stationed out of San Diego, but will soon be stationed out of Hawaii. Katie is a deck aviation boatswain and is starting her second tour of duty. Katie’s parents are Kip and Shawna Glendy of Lusk and granddaughter of Harold Glendy and Gordon and Gwen Moody.

The Niobrara Quilters are proud to be able to present our county’s active duty military personnel with appreciation quilts for their service. We have been fortunate enough to have presented 14 quilts that have all been made by the volunteers. Our only expense has been the cost of material needed, which the community has helped offset with generous donations.
