LUSK - Plans for Lusk’s new community pool moved forward on Tuesday, May 7, when the town council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the issuance of certificates of participation for the financing of the project.

The resolution, number 8-13, concerns the financing of the demolition of the Lusk Plunge Swimming Pool and the construction of a new outdoor swimming pool to take its place. The construction project will also include a new bathhouse and mechanical building. Lusk’s community pool was shut down last year after substantial leakage and a broken pump were discovered. Plans to replace the pool began to take shape last year during the election. The election saw the successful passage of the renewal of an existing one percent tax on the sixth penny of every tax dollar collected in Niobrara County. The revenue generated from this tax will subsidize the construction of the new outdoor pool for the county.
