In his famous poem “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost opines, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”
And, taking a divergent path has made all the difference for Richard Luchsinger. With retirement looming on his immediate horizon, the superintendent of Niobrara County School District #1 has had an opportunity to view his career from a more panoramic vantage point. Through this retrospective lens, Luchsinger has come to draw parallels between his career and the somewhat cryptic narrator of the famous Frost poem. Yet, in contradistinction to Frost’s ambiguous tone, Luchsinger clearly characterizes his divergent road as a gratifying path to have followed.
